I think I ended up at level 46 when I did this the other day; I was at 48 for a while, then it dumped a bunch of archaic medieval terms on me, and my etymological powers couldn't quite keep up... :(
I like the "medieval" terms: I know that "parr" are young salmon. It's the Latin...
You are right: the words get much harder at level 48. If anyone has gone over 50, let me know. That may just be the maximum level.
Re: Elvis as a god. Check out Walter Jon Williams "The Crown Jewels" or "House of Shards" if you're skiffy tolerant.
I got up to 50 (briefly) this time... I think that is the ceiling. Over 1000 grains of rice!
